Live RTP: an honest number used the wrong way
The house publishes each game's real return in windows of 10 minutes, 1 hour and 24 hours, with the formula in plain sight. Publishing that is rare and it is good. The problem starts when somebody treats a ten-minute window as a forecast — and the page showing the number is exactly the one inviting that.
The three windows
The page measures over 10 minutes, 1 hour and 24 hours, and splits the titles into two groups: those that paid above their own average in the window and those that paid below. In lobby language, hot games and cold games.
The two readings taken from that are opposites and both circulate: go into the hot one because “it is paying”, or into the cold one because “it owes”. Both treat the number as a forecast. It is a record.
Why ten minutes tells you nothing
A medium-volatility slot delivers most of its return in a few large hits spread across thousands of spins. In ten minutes, a single hit by a single player can push the measured return far above 100%, and its absence leaves the number near zero.
Which is to say: in short windows, the figure mostly measures who got lucky just now, not how the game behaves. The longer the window and the more players in the title, the closer the figure comes to the real average — which is why the 24-hour window is the only one of the three worth looking at carefully.

The second row is the most useful and the least discussed. Many studios publish the same slot in several return configurations, and the casino chooses which one goes into the lobby. The number that applies to you is the one in the information box of the game you opened — and the return measured over 24 hours helps you see whether it matches.
What the number does not answer
It answers nothing about money leaving the account. A high return does not speed up a withdrawal and does not change the clause requiring the deposit to be wagered first. That part is in deposit and withdrawal.

The difference that remains: volatility
Two games with the same RTP can produce completely different evenings. What separates them is volatility — how many large and small pieces that average return is divided into. In a high-volatility title the return exists, only concentrated in a few rare hits; with a small balance and large bets, your session ends before the average shows up.
